[treasure] The forgotten library treasure
The forgotten library treasure
At long last, the weary traveler let out an exhausted sigh as she stood in front of a dilapidated library. Yen had endured months of harsh environments to reach this destination. She had purchased this property some time ago, drawn by the curiosity of items left. As she gazed at the old building, she finally took in its true state of disrepair. The roof was riddled with holes, and shards of shattered glass littered the windows. Key features were missing or broken, leaving the once grand building a mere shell of its former self.
The traveler's cart remained outside, being watched over by a large traveling crab. As Yennefer unlocked the door and entered the library, she immediately took note of all the damage. "This is definitely a mess," she thought to herself. "It will take a lot of time and money to fix." Despite the daunting task ahead, Yennefer couldn't help but feel excited about the possibilities of making this place her own. It would be a much-needed escape from her family who wouldn't even bother looking for her in the swamp.
As Yennefer took a few steps further into the library, she heard a loud crack and suddenly found herself falling through the floorboards. As Yennefer's hoof made a resounding clunk on something hard and metallic, her expression turned to confusion. Leaning down, she saw a chest lying in her path.
Determined, she wedged her hands between the heavy chest and tried to lift it, but it wouldn't budge. Despite this setback, Yennefer refused to give up. She straightened her back and attempted to lift again, slowly but surely making progress until she could finally hoist it off the ground. She carefully shuffled it out of the library, unsure if the floorboards would hold up under its weight.
With a loud huff, Yennefer set the chest down and took a moment to catch her breath. As she looked at the object before her, she couldn't help but feel a sense of intrigue. It was a dark purple chest adorned with intricate arcane runes and a rusty padlock. "Charoite," she called out to her trusty companion, "come here and use your sharp claw to break this padlock."
Her large crab, Charoite, scuttled forward with his cart and glanced between his owner and the chest. Without hesitation, he used his powerful claw to snap the old padlock open. The lock easily gave way under the strength of his claw, revealing the contents within.
Her expression remained serious, but her eyes lit up with excitement as she peered into the chest. Within its depths lay an array of treasures - delicate seashells, shimmering crystals, bottles filled with mysterious substances, and ancient books bound in weathered leather. Her demeanor shifted as she eagerly picked up one of the old tomes.
"Why were these books hidden away in this chest?" she wondered aloud.
Two of the books were small and compact, their pages filled with research on the existence of magic. Yen's curiosity was piqued when she noticed the larger book in her hands. Its cover bore intricate arcane symbols and as she began to peruse its contents, she realized it was a study guide on how to understand and wield magic properly.
As she absorbed the knowledge from these texts, it dawned on her that this must have been the home of a witch or sorcerer. Carefully placing the items back into the chest and onto her cart, Yen couldn't help but wonder if there were more hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. Surely there must be more scattered throughout this area, but for now her main focus was rebuilding this library. If there were more books written by the same author, it would make for an impressive collection.
"Come on Charoite," Yen said to her trusty companion, "we have our work cut out for us."
Oh man i havent written anything in so long! So i do apologize if this is rusty!
