A species of landfaring fish, it bathes in mud to keep itself hydrated! They have the temperament of a guard dog, extremely protective of their plot of land, descended from the days where they lived below the water.

They're very brick-shaped (hopefully the FBD (Fish Body Diagram) helped showcase that), they're not good at moving fast but they're certainly good at not moving at all! They're like a very tiny brownie wall. That happens to be attached to a stinging anenome

Speaking of that, this fish lives in a mutualistic relationship with an anenome! This began under the water, where the fish would pluck the anenome off of the ground and wear it more like a hat for protection. Over time the anenome cut the plucking out. The anenome protects the fish from oncoming attacks by standing up straight and firing nematocysts, which are so tiny they look like filliments of lightning are surrounding the fish. And they definitely hurt!

The fish provides the anenome with a mobile home, always going around and rubbing through nutrient-rich mud which the anenome can grab nutrients from. In return, the anenome protects its mobile home. So who's really the guard fish here?

Muddyrfish were originally domesticated as guarding animals, as their disposition to guard was already beneficial to those desiring that behavior. Nowadays, maybe they're here to guard. But more often than that they're just household pets now. They got a sleepy disposition if they don't feel threatened!
