[treasure] Cavern Dive
After his previous failure of a treasure hunt two weeks past, Pearl decided that it was time to go and make an attempt to find some treasure once again.
While the last time he had a beautiful experience, enjoying every second of his adventure and the bappies’ smile after he gave her the amber, he had also ended up getting caught up in a storm and taking the long way home from snowshell reef beach without the treasure he had set out in search of. He hadn’t really minded at the time but with his upcoming performance, Pearl wanted to give it one more try to see if he could find something new for his outfit this time around. So with a nod, the symprite decided that he would go off early the next morning, maybe try his hand at the caverns this time instead of the beach? He knew there were bubble corals at the caverns and, while not the kind of thing he would use for his outfit, he knew he could probably use some of them as props during the performance and give them up to the bappies mielles at the end so they could still have fun even then. With an idea firmly set in his mind, the soft colored symprite finally went off to bed with a satisfied smile on his face at his plan.
The next morning, Pearl woke up early enough and grabbed his net satchel from the hook on the back of the door where it was hanging, grabbing some fruit to eat on the road as he walked out of his door, the sound of the door lock echoing just as the sun was rising. He made his way towards the caverns, arriving soon enough to see the rays of light bounce from crystal to crystal until it was all lit up inside, the minerals reflecting the light with all kinds of colors and creating the most amazing view he had seen in quite some time. After taking a moment to appreciate the natural spectacle he found himself in front of, Pearl reminded himself that he was there for a reason and went deeper, arriving at the lake within the caverns after some time. He dove in after briefly adjusting his satchel and making sure it wouldn’t come loose, the only hint of his presence being his footsteps in the ground along with the waves and ripples in the water.
Waiting for the bubbles to subside, Pearl started swimming deeper, looking around at the bright colored bizarre armorfish and feeding lime dory as he passed them on his way down, the oilspil kiril following after him with their bright colors flashing after their nightly escapades while the lithe forms of the occasional sneaky malaka darted in and out, trying to take a nibble out of his biote fins whenever he stopped for more than a second. The symprite finally stopped when he caught sight of a glowing bass circling around something, the shining scales reflecting on something. He went closer and accidentally spooked the fish, internally apologizing after the fleeing bass before he noticed that whatever he had expected, it was definitely not an odd chest, the bright colors and intricate details on the borders marking it and making it easy enough to distinguish compared to all the others. Pearl grabbed hold of the chest, absentmindedly pocketing some glowing bass scales he found nearby into his satchel, and swam back upwards, the fact he found an actual treasure chest this time was enough to distract him from his previous plans to get some bubble corals. Maybe he could pocket those plans for another day? He had a chest to open.
