Journal Entry - Day 49
Day 49
Today I went on my little journey through the swamps again in hopes of finding Dusky Diam, a plant I've heard so much about. It's not that rare, and yes, the marshes of Capricorn-13 are not the nicest place to be, but it was worth the attempt. Its petals, coated in a viscous, soapy liquid, are said to be perfect for cleaning. I came across a few native plants last time, but none of them were what I was looking for.
Wading through the thick, murky water, I moved cautiously, watching my every step. My hooves tread silently on the green slime-covered ground, and I tried not to breathe too deeply, lest I inhale the smell of the swamp. The warm mud beneath my feet felt like it was pulling me in, like it was trying to hold me back, keeping me from going any farther. For a moment, I wondered if I should continue on this difficult journey. But the hope of finding Dusky Diam kept me going.
Finally, after wandering for a long time, I noticed something unusual on the surface of the water ahead. What looked like a blossoming flower with large gray-pink petals was bobbing on a small bump. This flower was surrounded by a light mist that came from the liquid on its petals, giving it a mysterious appearance. This was it - Dusky Diam!
As I got closer, I could smell the pleasant, slightly sweet scent that came from the flowers. The smell was strange, but at the same time appealing, like freshness after rain mixed with a slight sweetness. I gingerly touched a petal and immediately felt the viscous liquid tugging at my fingers. It was like a natural soap, which surprised me - how much nature had been thoughtfully designed here to create such beneficial substances.
I plucked a few petals, careful not to damage the plant. They say its flowers regenerate quickly, and if you don't take too many, the plant will continue to grow and bloom. As I tucked the petals into my bag, I reflected on how in our homes this natural “soapy” material has become a symbol of comfort and order. We Symprites have always valued cleanliness and order, and Dusky Diam is perfect for that. The swamp turbidity it collects is transformed into a useful substance, which makes you wonder how in the world there is such a balance - even the dirtiest substance can turn into something useful and necessary.
I smiled to myself, imagining coming home and ending my day cleaning up everything that had come under my claws and hooves on this long hike.
