[meteor] [Writing] Meteoric Observations

[ In a dark, elaborate tome with pages that never seem to run out (or maybe there are just indefinite duplicates created), Xsaia is writing (in equally elaborate script) their findings during the Lunisolar festival. Of course, they’re scribbling away in note form, as they very frequently do, to keep their thoughts organized and written quickly enough real time to be able to pay attention to what’s around them. There is a decent amount of writing on the subject of the festival prior to this, but here in the book seems to be marking a particular event. . . the center of the festival itself.]

The Eclipse

  • It seems the Eclipse is near occurring.

    • The sky has already darkened substantially, but the color has changed to a very reddish hue.

    • I believe this could be called a ‘blood moon’ that is soon to occur.

    • Note: This is incredibly exciting~ The atmosphere is so charged with anticipation, even though I’ve chosen a place to observe relatively distant from others. I can still see a number of other symprites and aramelle below . . . Many are holding those new potions created by the scientist / alchemist Ranni.

      • I have obtained some potions myself, though I do not intend to use them until I have been able to conduct a thorough analysis of the solution. The premise of both transformations is so intriguing, it would be such a waste not to study at least one of each~

  • The vision is almost ominous… which makes it so fascinating~

    • Occasional clouds seem to be swirling about, but thankfully, not obscuring the moon nor sun.

    • Many have fallen silent as the eclipse approaches.

    • Note: I wonder if those back home are watching as well… I imagine they likely are.

  • [ink blot] It’s here.

    • The moon has covered the sun in what definitely could be classified as a ‘blood moon’.

      • Everything is covered in red. It’s surreal.

      • The water itself looks more like blood than anything.

      • Stars are more clear, and the meteor shower is much more visible, like crimson tears in the sky.

    • It’s easier to look at with a mask, as was advertised.

      • The craftsman did a good job not causing any of the sight to be washed out or obscured, and instead just making the eclipse easier to view without harming one’s eyes.

        • Note: Personally, I somewhat like the strain of viewing without a mask though~ It makes the whole ordeal seem… almost more indescribable~ Though for observation purposes, I imagine this isn’t necessarily the most rational approach to take. … For now.

  • A wish.

    • It is traditional to wish for something during this event; I’m not sure if it is for the moon specifically, but it is frequently a custom to wish on the ‘falling stars’ of the meteor shower when they are observed. Just in case, though, I will offer one here and now as well.

    • I wish for the Unknown. To be able to continue seeking it out, finding answers with more questions, reaching for that which I don’t even know I am looking for, but will be delighted to find... or horrified to find~ I wish for that impossibility, the things I do not yet know how to do, but may yet learn… despite how improbable it may seem. To always retain my curiosity, and to pass on such curiosity to others I encounter, or who may find what I have done. And if not that, wish there will always be curiosity to be had by all who have thoughts.

I wish to hold what cannot be held, that such Unknowing might find me worthy of such unfathomable feats. To become far more than I am now, or at least, more than what I believe I am now. An endless pursuit, as it only expands further with time.

I wish for what Is and Is Not, that the Absence will continue to be as important as the Presence, and for omniscience to be ever out of reach of all who think they would obtain it.

      [ink blot]

  • There is something happening below.

    • It’s… the other symprites. I can’t quite make it out, but it looks like chaos-

    • I was able to move a bit closer, and it seems… quite a number of them took, or threw? their potions at the same time.

      • The potions are the ones from Ranni, I am guessing, given the apparent unusual transformations seeming to occur. . .

    • It would appear that the transformation is rather…. Intense. At least for some of them.

      • Perhaps the potions were not thrown, but dropped…? Maybe there was some shock after drinking.

      • It appears in some cases, that the change is painful.

      • Others seem to be enjoying it.

      • Many of the larger ones seem to be… rampaging.

        • Note: I guess I was right to keep a decent distance from them all~

    • Peculiar that so many decided to drink them during the Eclipse.

      • I wonder if it was a planned ritual of sorts?

      • Or if there was some… notification that this was part of the festival?

      • Regardless, I am just as pleased I didn’t partake; observing the effects on so many others while in my right mind is far more interesting than simply being lost to it… for now~

        • I may attempt to take one later. Possibly the … winged one? They seem to be having an overall ‘better’ reaction than those who have become more hulking and beast-like.

    • It seems the aramelle are unaffected.

      • other than having to be more careful to not be trampled.

        • The ‘brute’ symprites are really giving them trouble. It seems some have even taking to chasing them, and other symprites smaller than them. How curious.

        • I wonder what they intend to do if they catch one of them…

    • None of the brutes seem like they are interested in going into the water, even if their quarry does so.

    • Perhaps that would be a safe area to relocate to, should any of them make their way up here and start chasing me. … How exciting~
